RED HAND CHALLENGE
Mother of two girls on a mission to raise awareness about the rare disease Erythromelalgia, that my eldest daughter Lynn was diagnosed with at the young age of 8 years! I share my journey of motherhood, inclusion advocacy and social awareness through my posts and blogs, hoping to inspire and support others on a similar journey.
Erythromelalgia aka Man on Fire Disease is a rare neuro-vascular condition that affects 1 in 100,000 persons in the US alone. Erythromelalgia is characterized by redness, increased warmth and swelling of the skin which could affect the extremities and face, causing a severe burning sensation and throbbing pain in recurrent episodes called flares.
The Red Hand Challenge is an online awareness campaign started by 10 year old Lynn and her family to bring awareness to her incurable and painful disease Erythromelalgia. The social media campaign has launched in December 2017. People are encouraged to paint their hands red and post a photo on social media using the hashtags #Redhandchallenge #GirlonFire and tagging Lynn's mom Youmna @Thefirefightermom.
